On-road racing in the
Greater New Orleans Area has been dormant for many years.
1racer.net was able to track down some of the old-school RC racers
that were then known as the Outlaws. According to them, on-road
racing has not been a regular occurrence since the days of
Associated and Bolink pan-cars. They raced pan-cars at one of the
Jefferson Parish libraries.
It is now 2008 and much in
RC racing technology has changed. For some, pan-cars are not all the
rave they used to be. Touring cars like the ever-popular Associated
TC3 or ground-breaking XRAY T2'008 are just a few examples of the
new standard in on-road RC racing. However, there are many racers
that still love the pure racing linked to the pan-car.
In response, 1racer.net
started about a year or so ago working to get the on-road RC
movement started again. Along the way, a few others have joined and
are ready to give on-road racing another chance in the New Orleans
area. Several dates have been set for on-road racing and are posted
at 1racerforum.net.
The current location of choice is Zephyr Field in Metairie- Airline
Highway between Power and Transcontinental. Races should be underway
by 12 PM on the designated Sundays unless otherwise noted.
In order for on-road
racing to live again in the Greater New Orleans Area, racers need to
support the movement- come ready to race. |
